Perched just below the canopy of the Nyungwe National Forest, the Kanzu washing station is the heartbeat of a dedicated farming community. Located in Rwanda’s renowned Nyamasheke region, Kanzu sits at a breathtaking 2,000+ meters above sea level, overlooking the stunning watershed of Lake Kivu.

The surrounding biodiverse forest acts as a natural shield, trapping cloud cover to create a distinct, misty microclimate. Combined with rich volcanic soil and high altitudes, this environment slows down cherry maturation dramatically. Nestled on the mountain downslope, Kanzu’s cherries are among the very last in the country to harvest. This patient, late-season ripening develops an incredibly dense, complex, and exceptional flavor profile that we look forward to season after season.
