Mexico Yogondoy

Nestled in the lush, steep slopes of Oaxaca’s Sierra Sur, San Vicente Yogondoy is a vibrant Zapotec community ("River of Bees") where coffee tradition meets a promising future. Grown at high elevations under a dense native canopy of shade trees like Cuil and avocado, these farms are exclusively planted with Pluma—a famous local Typica mutation cultivated here for over 80 years.
Reaching the remote plots requires a 2-to-3-hour trek on foot or by mule, but the dedication of Yogondoy’s producers pays off: through communal labor (Tequio) and meticulous care, they yield nearly double the region's average output while continuously elevating cup quality. In the cup, this coastal Oaxacan land shines with bright orange citrus, silky caramel sweetness, and a wild honey finish that honors the land's native beekeeping heritage.
